Towards a Healthy and High-Quality Canteen

Sekolah Tunas Unggul  remains committed to creating a healthy learning environment, including through the provision of a clean, nutritious, and eco-friendly canteen.

On July 31, 2025, the Director of Tunas Unggul School, Qiqi Yuliati Zakiyah, M.Ag., announced the Canteen Service Commitment, which applies to all school units, from Primary, Junior High, to Senior High School. This policy was warmly welcomed by the school community, canteen managers, and food vendors.

The commitment outlines six key points:

  • Maintaining the cleanliness, orderliness, and aesthetics of the canteen.
  • Providing separate bins for organic and inorganic waste.
  • Prohibiting the sale of foods containing additives (preservatives, artificial coloring, sweeteners, and flavor enhancers).
  • Reducing excessively oily or fried foods.
  • Prioritizing service for students who bring their own eating utensils, to minimize the use of non-environmentally friendly packaging such as plastic bags and styrofoam.
  • Consistently reminding visitors to dispose of waste properly.

In addition, Tunas Unggul School collaborates with Mandalajati Health Center to conduct regular training on healthy school canteens. The sessions cover food sanitation as well as balanced nutritious menus, ensuring that the meals served truly support students’ optimal growth and development.

The Healthy Canteen Development Program is also aligned with the guidelines of the School/Madrasah Health Unit (UKS/M) under the Ministry of Education and Culture, which emphasizes four main pillars: school commitment and management, human resources quality, facilities and infrastructure, and food quality.

With this commitment, Tunas Unggul School hopes that the canteen will not only serve as a place to buy food but also become an essential part of educating the entire school community on a healthy lifestyle.
