Avoid Toxic Parenting! Apply Epic Parenting with an Islamic Approach

Bandung, 8 Februari 2025 – Sekolah Tunas Unggul held Parenting Akbar 2025 with the theme “Parenting Style Check: Toxic or Epic?”. This event aims to increase parents’ understanding of proper parenting in order to create a conducive learning environment for children. With close collaboration between school and family, children are expected to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Parenting Reflection: Toxic or Epic?

Parenting Akbar 2025 is a reflection event for parents to understand whether their parenting tends to be toxic, restrictive, oppressive, or epic, building and supporting optimal child development. This activity presents inspirational speakers, interactive discussion sessions, and parenting simulations so parents can immediately apply the insights gained.

Principles of Epic Parenting

In the main session, participants were invited to understand the concept of Epic Parenting based on Islamic principles:

1. 0-7 years: The child is treated as a “king” who is pampered with affection.
2. 7-14 years: The child is a “prisoner” who begins to be given rules and responsibilities.
3. 14-21 years: The child is a “friend” who is given full trust to be independent.

With this approach, children can grow into confident, independent, and responsible individuals.

Synergy between Parents and School

The role of parents in a child’s education cannot be ignored. Fathers build leadership and courage, while mothers build emotional sensitivity and social awareness. Parenting Akbar 2025 provides a platform for parents to share experiences and gain insights to improve for their roles as a parents.
